What Does This CT Scan Report Of The Head Indicate?

what is it?
will it be a major problem.. what medicines are there for this?he feels headache and sleepin prob
It is a tiny calcium deposition in the brain and is not a major condition
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. Your father has a tiny 2 mm granuloma in the left temporal lobe of the brain.
2. A granuloma is a healed calcium deposition in the brain which might have been a focus of infection like dog tape worm or TB in the remote past that has healed over the years.
3. This can be due to ingestion of infected food and is seen in many people.
4. If he is having seizures then this could be a reason and he might require treatment only for seizures.
5. If there is no seizure then there is no need to worry. Rarely this might be causing headaches. Sometimes these can disappear over years without any treatment. It is not a major disease in case of your father.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Now it(facial paralysis) is cured, will it affect again..???Any tips??
For this granuloma do he need to take any medicines?or will it be cured?
Please get him examined by a neurologist for facial paralysis symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
1. It is difficult to tell if he had a confirmed attack of facial paralysis or it was a seizure that happened, however a seizure taking place because of such a small granuloma is not usually seen.
2. Please take him to a neurologist with CT scan report and get him clinically evaluated for any residual facial paralysis.
3. If clinically he appears normal then it is possible that he is recovering. facial paralysis might occur due to viral infection of facial nerve and patients make complete recovery in 6 months.
4. My suggestion will be to get him evaluated for facial nerve paralysis by a neurologist first and any hidden symptoms will be known. Recurrence depends on cause and sometimes any pressure on the nerve can cause this to happen.
5. For the granuloma nothing really requires to be taken if seizure activity is ruled out. It is tiny and has healed itself. Most likely it might resolve and disappear in few months to years. Since he has sugar problem therefore vitamin B complex should be given to avoid vitamin deficiency.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Dr.Vivek
