Question: Sir, My SGPT level is 65, SGOT level is 42 and S.Bilirubin level is 0.8. My doctor was giving me ECOnorm (made in france) capsule and Cocid D in medicines. On July 2, 2016 my SGPT was 58, On july 7 it was 51 and now it is 65. I have been eating only boiled food (no oil etc) even my SGPT is 65. Can this level of SGPT be a sign of Hepatitis B. Is ithis level risky? What should I eat and What should not?

Brief Answer:
Not significant. Can be ignored

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
SGPT and SGOT are enzymes related to liver and we sure see for the values to correlate with the other clinical findings and reports.
As you mentioned in your query, I do not see any physical complaints or any discomfort to you. Only your SGPT and SGOT levels are very marginally elevated.
Your bilirubin is also in in normal range. I feel these minor fluctuations in these reports can be safely ignored.
We have a saying in medicine that- treat the patient and not the reports. So if you are physically fine without any complaints but only slightly raised SGPT levels, I feel there is no need to be worried about.
And even if we do consider the levels, we do not consider them significant atleast if they are not doubled or tripled. Roughly to say if it was above 150s or 200s then we would have required to investigate further. But I do not see the need in your condition.
Ignore it safely and follow the advice given by your doctor. Hepatitis B picture wont present with this LFT reports. So be assured of it.
I hope I have answered your query well. If you have any more question kindly write back to me, will be happy to help you out.
Thank you.

Dear Sir thanks for your answer. Sir I am really suffering from stomach/lever problem. During 2007-2009, I had suffered from Jaundice 3 times.

Now, I feel problem in stomach/lever because faeces is not normal. Its color is somewhat white. Other symptoms are Indigestion and gas. I don't know where is my food going? I feel Unnecessary pressure so go to toilet 3-5 times.

I am non-alcoholic, Eat non-veg items rarely, never smoking and my mother cook food for me. SGPT level of 65 proves that my health is not proper. That's why I m worried.

Please suggest which food Items should I take? Can I drink/eat milk, curd, Roti (Indian bread made by wheat flour)? Is boiled food necessary ? Can we use a little bit of refined oil to fry? Thanks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for following up with me.
After you mentioned the previous episodes, I do understand your concern.
As you said you had jaundice 3 times few years back. It could only be hepatitis A or E as they are most commonly spread through water sources.
I think you can eat normal diet what your family eats. There is absolutely no need for you to eat boiled non tasty food. In contrast I feel because you are eating only boiled food as it will contain high amount of fibers you might be having indigestion and gas problem because of that. Human stomach is not made to eat only boiled food. Sometimes during illness or something once in a while is ok, but not for longer times.
You can drink /eat whatever you wish unless it’s homemade or from sources you are sure are not contaminated. Now as you see hepatitis A or E spread through water so only care you have to take is drink only and only home water or boiled water. You should not drink outside at all no matter where it is from.
Even if SGPT is slightly higher, your bilirubin is within normal range. Now as you mentioned about white stools, it more often go with obstructive jaundice but in that condition your bilirubin should also be higher and so your SGPT levels (above 300-400 atleast).
It will be helpful if you could upload all your reports you have got done recently. I would like to go through once just to be sure am not missing anything.
If you have any more question kindly write back to me, will be happy to help you out.
Thank you.
