What Does This MRI Finding Of Spine Indicate?
narrowing at T8-T9 and small Schmorl's nodes. Other Schmorl's nodes are seen within the lower
thoracic spine. No significant kyphosis. Otherwise, the marrow signal of vertebral bodies is within
normal limits. Thoracic vertebral body alignment is anatomic without listhesis. No acute fracture. No
spinal canal stenosis or significant neural foraminal narrowing is suggested. The spinal cord is normal
in signal characteristic, caliber and course. No mass is seen. The visualized soft tissues are
unremarkable.
Impression: Multilevel mild degenerative changes as above. No significant neural foraminal narrowing
or spinal canal stenosis.
Degenative disc disease.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
MRI findings indicate there is degenative disc disease of vertebral column.
This condition is related mainly to continuous damages on spine from everyday activities and is related to age.
In young people other causes may be assessed, these include arthritis, repeated spine trauma, smoking, heavy working, overweight.
According to MRI, there is no compression on neural structures, no slipped vertebrae, so there is no need for surgical procedures.
Shmorl's nodes usually accompany degenative changes of vertebral column.
Treatment depends on symptoms and includes NSAID drugs, physical therapy, loosing weight, quitting smoking, lifestyle changes.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Depends on symptoms.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again and thanks for asking back.
If you are able to continue serving in the army or not, this depends on severity of symptoms and th cause of degenative disc disease.
If no or mild symptoms and no underlying cause, then there is need for a period of physical activity restriction and treatment with painkillers together with physical therapy, later on a reevaluation of your condition.
If no improvement or worsening of symptoms/disease, then you are unfit for army.
Hope this helps. Best regards.
