Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Welcome to HealthcareMagic,
I've gone through your query and understand the concerns for your brother..
I've reviewed the attached MRI Cervical spine...
There is disc dehydration at all levels, it's mainly a degenerative process of the intervertebral discs processes which is generally seen as the progressive aging process...
There is straightening of the cervical lordosis. Lordosis is basically an inward curvature of the cervical spine which is normally present in all of us...It's straightened in your brother's case...
The main worrying factor is the Left paracentral broad based disc herniation at C5/6 and C6/7 level, which is mostly affecting the nerve supplying from those regions, which most likely is causing the pain over the right hand...surgery seems the appropriate choice in this scenario...
I believe by the doctor, you meant the Neurosurgeon, if not, then kindly visit the Neurosurgeon as s/he's the most appropriate one to opine in this regard...
Nothing to worry, with timely surgical intervention, he should be fine...
I've tried to make it as simple as possible for you to understand, let me know if there's any doubt...
Take care
Kind Regards
