What Does This MRI Report Of Brain Indicate?
Question: Can u please tell me what my MRI means. Here are the findings; Multiple subcortical FLAIR foci involving predominately the frontal and parietal lobes without enhancement or periventricular lesions noted. These findings are greater than expected for the patient's age but are nonspecific although the lack of periventricular lesions would argue against a demyelinating process. Inflammatory, infectious, or traumatic processes could cause these lesions in addition to vascular etiologies. Currently there is no active enhancement or focal mass effect noted. If the patient's symptoms persist a follow-up examination to document stability of the findings may be helpful.
Probable mucous retention cyst noted in the nasopharynx which may result in some eustachian tube dysfunction and mastoid air cell
fluid on the right.

I have thoroughly gone through your reports in detail.
Let me first explain MRI findings.
In MRI(Brain),there are multiple FLAIR tiny hyper intensities (means bright) in sub cortical region of brain.
These are generally non specific and it may be due to many reasons like ischemic changes(decreased blood supply) that involves small blood vessels.However demyelination,post traumatic sequel,lyme infection etc are some of the other possibilities.
Findings are early compared to patient's age.
Demyelination is unlikely because demyelinating lesions are found in typical region of brain like periventricular region.
There are no active lesions at present.
Standard protocol in this condition is follow up MRI scan.It can eliminate various possibilities and it is important to see progression of lesions.
There is also mucous retention cyst in the nasopharynx,it may be due to eustachian tube dysfunction.
There are also sign of infection in right mastoid bone.

So is ms never in the area where my lesions are? Also i had an ear infection in my left ear but they didnt find anything in my right ear and i took antibiotics and it mostly cleared up but now my right ear feels clogged but they dont see anything in there. Also not having any fevers or feeling sick. So ido u think i might still have the infection in my mastoid bone? I read that it can put people in the hospital. Is this something i should make an appt with a dr right away?

There are typical areas of brain involvement like periventricular,callosal region etc if there is MS.Besides this,there are also many clinical features associated with MS which can be elicited by a neurologist.
Follow up MRI scan should be done with this finding.
