Brief Answer:
It would be best to undergo coronary angiography

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

I have read your query and understand the concern.

If TMT (Treadmill Exercise ECG) is positive which suggests myocardial ischemia (means lack of blood supply to the particular heart musculature) particularly when there is excess load on heart (like during running on treadmill) and it is an indication for further work up.

The next step is TMT with thallium isotope. It is the ideal non-invasive way to evaluate ischemia to see whether the blood arriving at the heart muscle.

But it would be best to undergo coronary angiography (CAG) with a view for possible intervention further.

It is the only way to directly ‘see’ the block, if there any and its location, extent, severity and so on.

Although coronary angiogram is invasive, it is the gold standard in your case and as far as the STENT is concerned, your cardiologist will ask you after checking the site, size and type of obstruction in coronoary arteries after/during angiography procedure.

Routinely, cardiologist put stent (yes, after asking to person himself or his relatives) during the angiography procedure especially if there is hard n fast requirement of stent to avoid another invasive procedure subsequently.

But,yes they can NOT force you to put stent against your will.

Finally, you need to be investigated for Coronary Artery Disease by coronary angiography and regarding stent,it will be decided by the angiopdraphy report whether it is required or not.

Hope this will help you.
