Question: Hello doctor , I have asked one question a week ago regarding neck and right shoulder pain , Local physian has informed me it's sort fo cervical radiculopathy , and asked me to do some physiotherapy. I did 2-3 sessions but nothing much difference i found , hence just i need to planned for vacation , and i thought of it's pinched nerve i did went to chiropractor as one of the dr on this panel also suggested to have x-ray done as proactive. I did x-ray and found some gaps , disk space has decreased between c5-c6 and i have attached both x ray screenshots , I am pretty scared and not sure how to go ahead for this what fort of treatment is needed , could you please suggest .. what are the treatments available , diagnosis , long terms impact also taking treatment from chiropractor would be good.

Brief Answer:
Rest and analgesic may help

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

After going through your query I concluded that you are having reduced disc space between C5 and C6 so it may be due to disc prolapse as it is common cause of radiculopathy in your age. You may need MRI to confirm it.

Treatment of it is rest to neck and analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. Neurotrophic agents such as Mecobalamine are of help.I think as it requires rest to neck so treatment from chiropractor is not a good idea.

Second possibility is muscle strain/spasm. Again treatment is rest to neck and analgesic.

You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to me. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you a good health.

Take care.

Brief Answer:
No such method is there

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back

At present there are no such method besides surgical means to correct / increase disc space. However treatment of acute disc prolapse is primarily non operative by rest and analgesic. Rest already discussed. You can discuss with your doctor about it.
