What Does This Abdominal Ultrasound Report Indicate?
Question: Hi doctor
here are my mother's reports
USG WHOLE ABDOMEN (impression )
LIVER-borderline enlarged shows mild diffuse increase in parenchymal echogenicity
RIGHT KIDNEY-it shows minimal hydronephrosis
URINARY BLADDER UTERUS- soft hypoechoic area seen in posterior wall (18 to 20 mm size ) ? Fibroid
What condition causes this? Is this a very serious condition? What wil be the course of treatment? Wil she b ok???

Please find my observations below.
1. The liver is mildly fatty in nature with size at upper limit of normal. This is acceptable at her age. If required she can get liver function test and lipid profile done to know if she is having high cholesterol.
2. The right kidney showing minimal hydronephrosis is the mild obstruction to flow of urine from right kidney to urinary bladder. Minimal hydronephrosis is not a serious concern and it is important to know if her bladder was over distended and full during the scan. This has to be confirmed with the doctor who did the ultrasound scan. If possible the kidney should be examined after passing urine.
3. Fibroid in uterus is a benign tumor and present in many women. If size is 18 to 20 mm in diameter then it might be treated with medicines. It is important to know if she is having any heavy bleeding during periods or if has reached menopause. If she has reached menopause or there is no heavy bleeding then there is no problem. However a 20 mm fibroid is never serious and should not cause any discomfort.
4. She can get the ultrasound scan done again after 3 months to know if there is any increase in size of fibroid and also to look for the minimal hydronephrosis if it is persistent.
5. As mentioned above, getting a complete liver function and cholesterol testing is suggested due to fatty liver. If cholesterol is high then it might be controlled with medicine and diet changes.

she also have some digestive problems
gas
early morning burps
after eating even a little she feels heaviness in stomach as if the food is not goin down
i have also listed the names of the medicines she is taking, all those medicines are ok according to her conditions ?

1. Ocid D is for acid reflux disease and will give her relief from early morning burps. It is to be taken on empty stomach. Your mother should not be fasting for long and please tell her to take frequent small meals in the day. Spicy foods to be avoided.
In food please give her a daily 1800 kcal diet containing foods less in oil and spices. If she wants to take spicy food then she should take curds with it to reduce acidity. She should not stay hungry for more than 4 hours during the day. Please tell her not to lie down for 30 minutes after taking food.
2. Diastase with pepsin is enzyme preparation and will help in digestion.
3. Basiliv syrup is ayurvedic preparation and recommended for general health
4. Himalaya cystone tablets is for problems in kidney and urinary bladder and given for stones and infection.
5. I am unable to find bandiv, levazee and cantovo medicines in the database and guess these are herbal preparations. You might send pictures of the medicine package or write in the composition of medicine for more detail.
