What Does This Blood Report Indicate?
Question: I am a 59 year old female. Six months ago, my blood work showed an increase in fasting blood glucose levels from 80 to 110, increase in LDL to 160 and A1c ar 6.4. Retesting last month showed a decrease in glucose to 100, LDL to 138 and A1c to 6.1 but TSH slightly elevated at 4.96. I also suddenly started experiencing symptoms of anxiety - tightness in my throat and chest, general feeling of doom. Could this be all related somehow?
Brief Answer:
Sounds like anxiety
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam. Thanks for writing to hcm. Your symptoms sounds a lot like anxiety like you mentioned. However in view of pre diabetes and abnormal lipids and your age it would be prudent to get an ECG done and a tread mill test if indicated. That would be to eliminate any cardiac issues. Do you have bloating sensation in the abdomen or reflux as gastritis can mimic these as well. Its good that your blood glucose levels and cholesterol - ldl have improved. I would suggest you do a 75 gm glucose tolerance test to estimate your current status. The tsh is slightly high. Plz repeat it after 6 wks. Plz do a tft and anti too antibody then. Take care. Warm regards.
