What Does This Blood Report Indicate?
Question: Hi Doctor, we were asked to do a CBC for my daughter as she was not consuming good quantity food. And weighed 7.75 kilos only. Report (attached) indicates low or high values for various dimensions. Please advise.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. I have gone through the attached CBC report. Let me assure you that in children of this age it is normal for the total count to be upto 25000 and I would not be concerned with the count of 18000, especially when the neutrophil count is not raised. The so called low monocyte count does not carry any significance. Nothing needs to be done about it. Stop worrying.
Give the child all sorts of adult food but in mashed or pounded form but low in spices. Introduce one new food item per week and gradually build up on the quantity. I am sure that things would be fine.
