What Causes Low Neutrophils And High Lymphocytes In Toddler?

I am a little concerned about my son s lab results. He is 19 months old and until he was 15 months he was neutropenic. He always had low neutrophils and high lympocytes. Now I took him to the ER last night and his neutrophil count is high and lympocytes are low and monocyte is high. Could this mean anything...Here are his results: WBC 17.8 k/mcL HGB 12.8 gm/dL HCT 37.7% RBC 4.96 MIL/mcL MCV 76.0 fL MCH 25.8 pg MCHC 33.9 gm/dL PLT CT: 372 K/mcL RDW 15.5% MPV 7.0 fL Neutrophil % 66.1% Lymphocyte % 22.8% Monocyte % 8.6% Eosinophil % 2.5% Basophil % 0.0% Neutro Absolute 11.7 K/mcL Lymph Absolute 4.0 K/mcL Mono Absolute 1.5 K/mcL Eos Absolute 0.4 K/mcL Baso Absolute 0.0 K/mcL

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

If your child has no clinical symptoms like fever, cough, loose stools, vomiting, pain in stomach, headache the reports you provided seems good. Not much to worry about. But to be sure better to do a peripheral smear for any abnormalities. Consult a hematologist for opinion.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lingamurthy Itha, Pediatrician
