What Does This Blood Report Indicate?

I have a baby boy who is 2 days old.
I have been asked to perform blood test for baby (Bilirubin).
The results are as follows:
Bilirubin total - 6.8 mg/dl
Bilirubin direct - 0.5 mg/dl
Bilirubin indirect - 6.3 mg/dl
Is this abnormal?. What does the reading suggest?
Thanks
Suggestive of physiological jaundice - nothing to worry but needs follow up
Detailed Answer:
Hi...this is suggestive of physiological jaundice. This is quite common and the results are not alarming.
But there is a possibility that the bilirubin may rise and require phototherapy for a few a days in a hospital set up.
If I were your pediatrician I would follow up the kid clinically to see for deepening jaundice and also check bilirubin once in 24 hours to see if it requires phototherapy.
I have a few questions for you -
1. What the blood group of the mother?
2. What is the blood group of the baby?
3. What is the color of the stools of the baby?
4. Is the high colored urine staining the diapers of the baby?
Please get back to me with answers to the above questions.
