What Does This Blood Report Indicate?
It is highly sensitive test to detect infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Health Care Magic,
White blood cells (like lymphocytes or neutrophills) differential count in Complete blood count is highly sensitive test to detect infection but at the same time it lacks specificity.
High LYMPHOCYTES known as lymphocytosis which might be indicative of some sort of infection in the body like,
acute viral infections (Cytomegalovirus infection),
acute infections such as pertussis,
some protozoal infections, like (toxoplasmosis Chagas disease),
chronic bacterial infections,
lymphoma etc.
However,44.3% lymphocytes (normal range is 20 to 40%) are slightly high but it does not have any clinical significance especially if you do not have any clinical symptoms. In case of common cold or just a viral infection, lymphocyte count gets elevated.
Since it is found on a routine check up,I do not think there is anything to be worried here.
As I mentioned earlier, it lacks specificity, so you will need to consult physician if you have any clinical symptoms .
Thanks and Regards,
