What Does This Blood Report Indicate?
Question: I have Ibs, and fissures for which i had operation 5 years ago, i am having pain in my muscles specially hands, i went to doctor , he recommended few tests, most are normal, but B12 is 200, and SGPT is 400, is there anything to worry?

1) Vit-B12 value of 200 after weekly injections is not worry, as unrequired Vit-B12 will be excreted in urine through blood
2) SGPT value of 400 is concern. For this you must do whole Liver Function Test, USG abdomen, Tests for hepatitis-B, Hepatitis-A.
3) Muscle pain is present due to presence of overall flu-like symptoms.
4) Do you have mild fever, abdominal pain? What about your appetite, habit of consumption of alcohol?
5) Mentioned treatment is appropriate for hepatitis but it is suggestible to find out cause for hepatitis.
6) As liver function for production of energy would be decreased in hepatitis, you should take high carbohydrate, fat-free diet.

I don't have fever or abdominal pain, appetite is good, not a drinker.

2) For evaluation of liver structure and size, USG abdomen is also recommended
3) In hepatitis, liver function would be decreased (capacity to produce protein, carbohydrate and to digest lipid will be decreased). Therefore you should take diet which has less fat-content, more carbohydrate content, and more protein content.

sorry i mentioned SGPT 400 in first, it is 200.
Also last question, could SGPT be high if i had injury somewhere in body or it is totally related to lever.
AS i have IBS from many years and my lever has not been very good from start, although i have got checked it many times and everything looked fine.
