What Does This Comprehensive Metabolic Panel Test Result Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 Oct 2015
Question: I have been progressively getting sicker over the past 2 years. I was recently hospitialized for pneumocystis, diabetes and hypertension. During this stay a gallbladder test revealed it to be working at 40%, doctor said that was okay and they noticed cysts on my kidney, didn't address even though I have had past kidney failure with 3x dialysis and numerous lab tests showing the kidneys ae compromised. Comprehensive Metabolic panel today showed the following abnormal results: Chloride 112, BUN 26, Creatinine 1.1, GFR 60. Magnesium was 1.4, uric acid 7.3. I would just like to know should I be concerned with all this. I have also been told years ago that I had lupus, since then the doctors have flipped and flopped about that diagnosis so I don't know what to believe on that.
I also had a sed rate of 48.

Brief Answer:
No need to bother much. Imperative to get a clear diagnosis of lupus or not

Detailed Answer:
hi and thanks for the query

I understand how disturbing this could. I think it might be interesting to lay more emphasis, I know it's hard, on knowing clearly if it's lupus or not. lupus if not well managed can accelerate the deterioration of the kidney profile.clinical and laboratory parameters are needed for making a diagnosis of lupus.

the results of the biological profile you present, taking into consideration your past medical history and the fact that you have been on dialysis before is not a source of distress to me. it's true that the Glomerulat filtration rate (GFR) is at 60. normal is when it's greater than 90.

I strongly suggest you keep on monitoring your kidney function profiles with these tests while doing all to avoid toxins that can endanger the kidneys. you need to be cautious with the drug type you take especially .

getting a clear idea if its lupus or not is really important. treating lupus can improve immensely kidney function. left untreated could aggravate this .

thanks and kind regards as I wish you the best of health. please do feel free asking follow up questions in case you have specific concerns.
