What Does This Lab Report Indicate?
Question: hi there i am a 47 yr old women eat very healthy dont drink in excess may be 2 times a month anymore just wine my Alt is a 39 my Ast is 25 my Ggt is a 57 LDH is 148 total Cholesterol is 209 i am on bio identical estrodial cream only had a ultra sound on abdomen normal should i worry about these test results?
Brief Answer:
Take care of cholesterol levels
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I understand your concern. I have read the reports and your AST and ALT seem to be normal, your GGT is slightly elevated, but this can be attributed to age, since GGT levels usually rise with age in women.
I would be more concerned about your cholesterol levels which are borderline high, yet still possible to correct with diet and change of lifestyle.
I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you have further questions.
Wishing you good health and all the best.

What im wondering as well is why on the Alt says high at 39 when range is 0-32? i have one report from a different lab and the ggt range is 0-60 and im a 58 ( i went to 2 different labs in same day) The other lab the range is 5-36 for the Ggt ? I do have one result which i forgot to mention on the other lab which is DHEA and the range is 243.7 and i am 301.7 what does this mean should i be concerned? Do being on estrodial cream bio identical raise your alt, ast, ggt, dhea? cholesterol raise your levels ? not sure why i have high cholesterol i eat paleo i do take these supplements b12 , folate, omega 3, milk thistle and turmeric . drink green and red juice by organifi everyday .. last but not least since i did get a ultra sound came out normal should I not be concerned with these ranges on my liver for disease ?

Please see below
Detailed Answer:
1. ALT levels 2-3 times above the normal range are considered mildly elevated, so based on the reports, I consider your ALT levels to be normal.
2. The normal range for GGT levels are 9-48 U/L, but these case vary due to age and gender.
3. DHEA is a weak male hormone produced in the adrenal gland in both men and women. Elevated levels indicate an adrenal gland dysfunction. However, in your case, increased DHEA levels are due to estrogen cream bio you are using. This cream may also raise your AST and ALT. Not GGT.
4. Sometimes cholesterol levels are increased without an apparent cause, despite diet and healthy lifestyle.
5. In my opinion, besides your cholesterol levels, You should not be too concerned about these lab values.
I hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you have further questions.
Wishing you good health and all the best.
