Question: I WENT TO SEE MY GP FOR MID-BACK PAIN AND HE SENT ME FOR MRI. HE SUBSEQUENTLY (NEXT DAY) REFERRED ME TO VASCULAR/THORACIC SURGEON. HIS REASONING IS ON REPORT SAID "CHEST MASS" WITH POSSIBLE THYROID INVOLVED. WHEN YOU SAY "MASS" WHAT DOES THAT REALY MEAN? HOW DIRE IS IT REALLY; AND, SHOULD I PANIC?

an abnormal growth of tissue resulting from uncontrolled growth of cells and serving no function within the body. It may be infection, inflammatory and benign or malignant tumour.It is not emergency condition but need consult with thoracic/ general surgeon and no need to worry but get yourself treated as it probably will reguire surgery (operation).
