What Does This Pelvic Ultrasound Regarding Pain In Left Side Indicate?

Question: I had acute pain on my left side (back) the ER physician recommended an ultrasound. The result showed Mild dilatation of left renal pelvicalyceal system. The conclusion was left renal mild back pressure changes. Could you explain

Detailed Answer:
This is still nothing to worry about. In most cases it means that here is or there was urinary stone that obstructed ureter and caused dilatation of calyceal system (these are ducts in kidneys). Since there is no hydronephrosis or severe canal dilatation,it means that stone probably passed already. All you need to do at this point is to drink plenty of fluids, drink raspberry tea,take spasmolytics if pain occur again and have follow up in 3-4 week where you should repeat ultrasound and do basic urine analysis.
