What Does This Serum Progesterone Value Of 30.1 Indicate?
Question: Hi Dr.we have did a test for serum progesterone for my wife and reading shows it as 30.1. Could you please let us know what does that mean... Please find attached the report.

The report of serum progesterone in a non pregnant lady at day 21 onwards should be more than 25 ng /dl. Now as it is 30.1ng/dl, it is absolutely normal indicating that there is no progesterone deficiency at all.

Yes , at day 21 onwards , levels more than 25ng/dl are good and help sustain pregnancy if established, ruling out progesterone deficiency. However the conception depends more on the ovulation time and rupture of follicle rather than on progesterone levels per se. As progesterone is high , it indicates that follicle has already ruptured and corpus-luteum is secreting progesterone. If you have been sexually active since last 1 week , then there are chances that this cycle may be fruitful.
