What Does This Stool Culture Test Result Indicate?

Question: Hi,my daughter is 2 Months old and completely on formula. She is passing green coloured stools 2 times a day.The stools are sticky in nature & Semi solid. We have given the stools for culture and the report is mentioning that"Escherchia Coli grown after 24 hrs of incubation & Sensitive".Pls advise, as we are concerned. The baby is active and gaining weight.
Brief Answer:
normal report.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
Some strains of E. coli are harmless and live naturally in human intestines.
So i think you need not to worry if the baby is otherwise normal, gaining weight adequately.
E. coli O157:H7 are infectious strains which may cause fever, loose motion or blood in stools.
You need not to do any treatment for that.
Green and sticky stool may be due to top feed or lesser transit time of milk in the gut.
Hope i helped you.

Hello Dr.
Many Thanks for the reply. She is not having any fever, loose motions or any blood in the stools. But the stools are smelling some sort of chemicalish. We are feeding her "Lactogen 1" through bottle and taking adequate precautions(sterilisation of the bottle, etc.)before the feed.
Awaiting your advise.

Brief Answer:
may be due to associated malabsorption
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up.
Chemical smell from the poop of the baby may be due to malabsorption (due to top feed) or some viral infection.
If there is no loose stools there is nothing to worry.
It will go on its own.
Hope i helped you.
