What Does This Thyroid Test Result Indicate?
Question: I recently had blood work done for my Thyroid. My T3 Levels came back with a reading of 71 ng/dl which is a little low also my Free t3 Tracer dialysis was low at 182 PG/dl. All other levels where in the normal range. My endrocrinologist said I should raise my synthyroid medicine. Is the T3 Levels important in the thyroid readings. I have also have had some twitching by my left armpit. Can low thyroid levels cause this.
Brief Answer:
Hypothyroidism doesn't cause twitching
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
The most sensitive and important test for management of hypothyroidism is TSH.
If TSH is below 2.5 , the FT4 and FT3 values do not matter much. T4 is converted into T3 and affects the body's metabolism.
Since your doctor has recommended that you raise the dose a bit, it would be good to follow his advice unless you have symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
Wish you good health

What can cause twitching by your armpit ?
Brief Answer:
Probably myokimia

It is likely to be myokimia which is a benign twitching of certain groups of muscles.
This usually disappears after a few days. If it persists or increases, it requires to be investigated.
