Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
thE PRESENCE of prominent lateral ventricles in head of foetus indicate that the overall CSF in the brain is slightly more, so if the value is less than 10mm, there is no apparent need to worry but 2 weekly follow ups shall be required to consider and monitor development of hydrocephalus.

Detailed Answer:
If the lateral ventricles are 10 millimeters or greater in size then you will be told that your fetus has "ventriculomegaly". You really cannot do anything to prevent that. its happening naturally.
The outcome of ventriculomegaly depends on several factors including the actual size of the ventricles, whether or not there are any other findings on the ultrasound, such as agenesis of the corpus callosum, and the results of the amniocentesis. In general, the outcome is worse when the ventricles are larger, the amniocentesis is abnormal, or there are other problems seen on the ultrasound. The best outcome is typically observed when: 1.) the fetus' ventricles are only mildly enlarged (measure between 10-15 millimeters in size, 2.) when there are no other problems seen on the ultrasound, and 3.) the genetic testing results are normal—this is called “Isolated Mild Ventriculomegaly”.

The exact outcome for your child’s health is difficult to know. The most common effect in the child is developmental delay. This seems to be related to the size of the ventricles.

If it stay like this 7mm i should not worry anymore? Does it also link to other chromosomal syndrome?

Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Yes if it stays less than 10mm then there is no need to worry.
There has been no association as such found between chromosomal disorder and ventriculomengaly, at least one cannot pinpoint the disorder unless an amniocentesis is done and karyotyping and DNA analysis or a chromosomal micro array analysis is being done.

Detailed Answer:
In my experience i have seen only 2 cases out of around 50 with dilated lateral ventricles who required post delivery surgery for shunt but the rest delivered normally with regular monitoring and next 2 years follow up showed no developmental delay.

Is there any food for me to avoid ?? But do you think it will still going to be small
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sameer Kumar (4 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
answered

Detailed Answer:
Till date the reason could not be actually found out. However no food avoidance or increase can have any effect on the lateral ventricle or csf production in situ. You really can't do much but just to get regular follow ups done 2-3 weekly.

can you check this

Answered by Dr. Sameer Kumar (4 minutes later)
Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
The report is free from any congenital anomaly except enlarged ventricles. So as you are into 20th week, the next best follow up would be after 6 weeks and then 3 weekly shall be advisable.
