What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

The report states that it's "ENLARGED OVARIES WITH ECHOGENIC STROMA::?PCOD" Pls tell me that is it a very serious issue? And in how much time can it be cured?
Regards
It is a common problem.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Normally ovaries are solid structures containing plenty of follicles which mature to release ovum. Sometimes in some people due to multiple reasons, the solid ovaries are studded with cysts. Such a condition is referred to as 'polycystic ovaries'.
In this, a woman’s hormones are out of balance.
So ovaries develop more follicles than normal every month.Diagnostic tests are 2 hr GTT,serum androgen and testosterone levels,LH-FSH ratio, prolactin levels,TSH levels,17-hydroxyprogesterone levels and 3D ultrasound.
There is no cure to this as it seems to stem from genetic origin. All treatments are aimed at reducing the symptoms it causes ( anovulation, acne, excess body hair ) and also to prevent long term complications ( endometrial hyperplasia, heart disease, diabetes, cholesterol problems ) arising out of this.
Lifestyle changes like diet and exercise is the mainstay of treatment and reduction of body weight even by 5% helps at least 30 to 40% of women to restore their menstrual cycles.

Thank You So much for your reply.
I have one concern that isn't it a major issue as before putting up this question I was reading about it on web as I am not very much familiar with the medical terminology and there few reasons were given like benign tumors and, rarely, ovarian cancer which made me worry.
It's been three months that I am not having regular periods as well as I feel lot of pain in my lower abdomen and ovaries.

Not related to cancer.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
It is not a serious issue and is not related to cancer. It causes delay in periods, weight gain, difficulty in ovulation and conception. Proper treatment will be needed in case you want to plan a baby.
Hope my answer is helpful.
Do accept my answer in case there are no further queries.
