What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Posted on Mon, 17 Apr 2017
Question: Dx is complete placenta previa. Does there appear to be diminished decidua basalis or any kind of invasion into the myometrium. Indicative of an accreta?
History - had 1 x previous cesarean, previous uterine curettages, scans prior to pregnancy showed uterus with a heterogenous echotexture, calcifications & adhesions.

Brief Answer:
the next best step is MRI.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
thanks for the query,
the ultrasound picture is unclear and a single image is difficult to interpret alone. If percreta or accreta is to be ruled out then the next best step shall be an MRI, which can delineate properly the margins of placenta into myometrium.
Please share the ultrasound written report for further purview.

I dont happen to have a written report until Monday, thats why i spent the money to use the ask a doctor app... do you think if i sent some clearer images it could give you any idea of the decidua basalis?
I know its not the only thing to rely on and an MRI would provide more indepth info.
But just an indication?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
the completeness of placenta praevia is confirmed , however in some films, the uterine border is not properly deliniated and whitish calcified uterine tissue is seen. The chances of accreta are higher in such cases and hence conclusive decision and opinion can be given only after an UMRI evaluation.
