Question: This Monday early morning all of sudden I experience strong pain in left side of my stomach and half way till my back. I consulted a local physician and he prescribed Meftal spas and advised me to undergo an ultrasound to detect if there are renal stones. I underwent the scan and have attached the report here. I want you to review and advise me on the scan report.

Brief Answer:
Pain on Left side is due to impacted calculus at UV junction

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts and report og Ultrasound Scanning you seem to have pain on left side of stomach and back due to impacted stone of a size of 6 mm at the left Uretero Vesical Junction .In addition to this you have multiple small non obstructing calculi in
both the kidneys .

Normally the stone up to size of 8 mm pass out through urine spontaneously .I would suggest you to take following medications for 10 days and repeat scanning after 10 days to assess the situation .
1) Norflox one tablet Twice daily
2) tab Drotoverine twice daily
3) Tab Tomsulosin once daily at night .
4) Tab Nitrofurantoin twice daily .
5) Ensure to drink more water to produce more urine .

In view of you having bilateral stone disease I would suggest you to consult qualified Urologist and get metabolic study done to find out the cause for formation of stone so that necessary dietary measures can be followed to prevent stone formation

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Thanks for your advise and prescription, Doctor. I went to buy these tablets but the pharmacist got confused about how much mg of these tablets should be given.

It would be helpful if you can provide the complete details of these tablets along with the brand name so that I can find it in Medplus.

The pain has subsided now. On Monday when there was pain, I could even see blood in my urine. Now the urine color is back to normal.

Thank you,
XXXX
