Question: I recently had an ultrasound (grayscale, color, doppler) of the bilateral groin for enlarged lymph nodes.
the result was 1.5 x .5 cm and 2.1 x .7 cm. "the visualized lymph nodes demonstrate normal morphology."
"......likely Hyperplastic". Do I require a biopsy, or am I all set?

Brief Answer:
An antibiotic course if required & follow up.No other action suggested

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

The ultrasound report of groin region show presence of hyperplastic lymph nodes likely to be result of infection / inflammation.
Is there any history of urinary tract infection or any infectious focus in lower limbs like boil, furuncule etc?
In such a situation, a course of antibiotic will be sufficient.
Else no further action required.
You can monitor the lymph nodes, if the size of the lymph nodes increases you can report to your doctor.

Thanks and take care

These inguinal nodes have been noticed since late May. They seem to be rubbery but XXXXXXX My PC seems to feel nothing else should be done. I'm looking for a second opinion that supports or disagrees with that course. thanks

Brief Answer:
A FNAC can be done to know the nature of enlarged lymph node.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
A biopsy is too invasive for hyperplastic lymph node.
Instead you can go for aspiration cytology of the lymph node to know the nature of the lymph node.
In fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), a needle is introduced into the lymph node, cells are aspirated and spread on to a glass slide.
The cells are stained and examined microscopically to know the nature of the lymph node enlargement.
In case the lymph node turns out to be inflammatory, a course of antibiotic can be taken after prescription from your doctor.

Thanks and take care
