What Does Vibrating Sensation From The Hip Down, Extending To Both Feet?

Radicular pain/Nerve radicle compression/Exercises/Spine surgeon's opinion.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.
If you would have presented to me as an outpatient with this medical history,I would have asked you a few questions in order to answer your query better-
1)Does the pain increase when lying on your back or on your sides?
2)Does the pain increase, decrease or remain as such on bending your knees? Please observe and reply.
The clinical description of your pain is of a radicular pain due to the compression of lumbosacral nerve radicles .It is commonly observed in radicular compression due to the degenerative changes of spine. However, you already have a Harrington rod in spine, which can act as an etiological factor for the nerve root compression. Please discuss with your spinal surgeon whether it is the culprit(may be its place has changed a bit, thus irritating the nerve roots).Otherwise,Please get a Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) of Lumbo-sacral spine done to see the status of lumbo-sacral radicles.
Meanwhile, please consult an expert physiotherapist so that he teaches you XXXXXXX spinal extension exercises. Please do these exercises regularly and you will soon have improvement.
Along with, you should start taking calcium, vitamin D,methylcobalamin and pregabalin.PLEASE TAKE MEDICINES UNDER A PHYSICIAN'S GUIDANCE ONLY.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask else, please close the thread-rate it and write a review.

The sensation I feel is not what I would describe as "pain" in the conventional sense, but more like an "electrical" or vibrating sensation from the hip down, extending to both feet.
As I indicated, these flares occur regularly, lasting from 24 – 48 hours, followed by remissions that last until I fall asleep in bed.
During a typical flare, bending forward from a standing position seems to moderate the sensation noticeably. Lying flat on my back seems to increase the sensation, whereas, lying on my sides seems to alleviate it.
Any further input would be greatly appreciated. And thanks again.
Points you mentioned favour the diagnosis of L-S Radiculopathy.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.
I appreciate that you have precisely mentioned the details I have asked for.
These points you mentioned favour the diagnosis of lumbo-sacral nerve radicles compression.Radiculopathy does not necessarily cause pain rather, other sensations like tingling sensation, electric current like sensation or a vibration like sensation are also very common manifestations.
These sensations starting from hip and going upto feet is hallmark of the pathology of radicular origin.Improvement in symptoms on bending forward and worsening while lying flat on back ,further confirm the symptoms of radiculopathy.
Lying on sides improves the symptoms,is supportive of the fact that it is not a hip or sacroiliac pathology.
Please visit your spinal surgeon for the possibility of Harrington rod positioning being the culprit and consider of getting a MRI Lumbo-sacral spine done.
Meanwhile, please start regular exercises and medicines as discussed above.PLEASE TAKE MEDICINES UNDER A PHYSICIAN'S GUIDANCE ONLY.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask else, please close the thread-rate it and write a review.
