What Happens If I Miss A Dose Of Z-Pak?
Question: I am prescribed zpak for 5 days (500 mg the first day then 250 the next 4) yesterday would have been my 4th day but I had left town and forgot to bring my antibiotics. is it okay to resume the schedule and take the 4th today and the last one tomorrow?
Brief Answer:
This is the best you can do
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
this is the best you can do, but the results are not certain. Azithromycin due to its mechanism of action may be active even for a few days after ingestion, so it's probably OK to resume treatment. But you've got to understand that treatment efficacy can only be assessed when the patient uses the regimen according to prescription.
This means that the efficacy of this interrupted regimen is not certain, but this is the best you can do at this time.
I hope I've helped!

It is safe though?
Brief Answer:
It's safe regarding side-effects
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
it's safe regarding the drug's side effects.
Regarding pathogen eradication, it's possibly safe as well, but this is the point of uncertainty. If your clinical condition is severe (which I suppose is NOT the case) then perhaps more aggressive treatment might be needed but it would take a visit to your doctor for that (I can't decide for a patient's treatment without examining him!).
If you're in a good condition (no fever, mild symptoms) then I suggest resuming your treatment.
I hope it's more clear now!
Kind Regards!
