What Is ETG Alcohol Test?

detailed below.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
The urine test EtG is a test that can detect Ethyl Glucuronide , a metabolite of ethanol in urine several hours after consumption.
There have been several studies with a small number of participants to evaluate the maximal time that EtG test can detect ethanol metabolite in urine.
The result haven't been conclusive to determine a specific range of time ,within it the test will result positive.
This because there are many factors affecting the results including:
-If you are a chronic consumer of alcohol or a sporadic one.
-The amount of alcohol you drink
-Your weight and metabolism ,that is specific for every person.
The results of the majority of studies were that commonly EtG can detect alcohol from 24-48 hours for low-medium doses and up to 80 hours in very large doses.
If you drank a small amount of alcohol you may not test positive after 20 hours but as I said all depends on your metabolism, the history of drinking ,your weight etc.
Some studies have suggested that drinking large amount of water can dilute the concentration of etg in urine so the test may result negative.
This won't help if the test also measure urine creatinine (this depends on the tests used).
Hope it helps.
Let me know if you have any other question or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.
