Detailed Answer:
Hello
My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.
I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Trimethoprim/sulfamethoazole is sulfonamide class of antibiotic group. It is prescribed for a number of disease and for broad range of infections. In your case most probably it has been prescribed for Urinary tract infection (UTI) as there was discharge from urethra as well. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic which cover most of the gram -ve micro-organisms that causes UTI including E.Coli, Chlamydia and Mycoplasma. I wouldn't be able to guess the exact organisms here. If you have a culture report with you, that should specify the infective organism.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
