ASCUS is one of the diagnosis in Pap smear testing. It is mild abnormality and no immediate danger of cervical cancer.Most of the cases will turn up to be normal in the subsequent Pap tests.Possible causes may be infections like HPV, hypoestrogenic conditions like menopause etc.
Please repeat the Pap test after 3 months (preferably liquid based cytology) and HPV testing.If ASCUS persists then Colposcopic examination is indicated.
