What Is Autoimmune Bone Disease?
crohns disease
Detailed Answer:
Good evening
Thank you for writing on health care magic
Well could you describe in more detail about the autoimmune bone disease you.mentioned:
1. Which joints are affected
2. Any associated back pain or neck pain
3. Any swelling in the joints along with early morning stiffness
Crohns disease is a very common cause of peripheral arthritis that is it can cause pain and swelling of the joints like knees ankles and others. Whenever the disease gets active it can affect the joints too. It is known as Enteropathic Arthritis. So I just want to know a few more details. The 2nd possibility is osteomalacia due to vitamin D and calcium deficiency as they are not absorbed in crohns.
Do let me know these queries and I will be able to guide you in the right way

2. No back or neck pain.
3. No swelling.
I haven't been given a name as of yet about the bone disease. My hemoglobin gets low, but the Eprex epoetin alfa helps. I went a whole year without a transfusion.

Sorry for the delayed reply
Was Caught up in Hospital duty...
1. The pain in your knees ,which has come without swelling can be due to crohns disease or age related Osteoarthritis changes as well. But either way, you need to supplement yourself with Calcium and Vitamin D as their absorption is low in Crohns patients. An X ray of the knee would be helpful. Once Crohns gets better, it will improve as well
2. For your Anemia, I really doubt the use of Epopetin Alfa injections. I mean, what exactly is the cause ?? IS it due to decreased iron, B12 absorption or is it getting broken down? Kindly check the reticulocyte count, Iron, B12 report for me.
I feel there are some missing links which need to be tied up. I hope the information was useful
Do let me know for more queries. WOuld be happy to answer it
