Ok. Thank you this was helpful. I have one more question entercockcus. Do you feel a person can successfully be cured from thid in kidney and uti with ceftin 500mg x2 daily for several months? I had this and they are still finding light bleeding and now occasional protien. Never had problems before. How can i direct my doctor to provide treatment to fully heal me?
Brief Answer:
UTI
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I understand that you had been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and urine culture had shown Enterococcus.
The urinary tract infection will be treated based on the urine culture and sensitivity reports. If the organism was found to be sensitive to Ceftin, then the course of antibiotic should have cleared the infection.
The usual protocol is to repeat the urine culture and look for any persisting bacteria and if so,look for the antibiotic which it is sensitive to and treat accordingly.
If there is no growth in the culture, but you are still seeing blood cells and occasional protein, they may have to evaluate for other disorders like renal calculi ( kidney stones). You may have to get an ultrasound examination of the kidney to see the size, echotexture and to look for kidney stones.
Hope this helps you.
If you have any more queries, I will be glad to assist.
Take care and wish you good health.
