renolog contains ketoaminoacids along with essential aminoacids. Keto aminoacids are keto analog of aminoacids. in simple language they are proteins of certain chemical structure that would release less nitrogen metabolic products on digestion.

it has been seen in clinical studies that this products when used with low protein diet can decrease uremic symptoms and and may decrease progression of renal disease. generally you can use upto 8 tablets per day under guidance of your physician.

though most clinical studies are in less renal dysfunction but even in stage 3 to 4 disease some studies have shown results. at serum creatinine 4.6 the use is at the discretion of your doctor.

This is judged by the doctor on basis of clinical symptoms - low appetite, breathlessness, acidosis and hyperkalemia detected by blood tests, fluid accumulation in the body due to less urine and so on. Overall the treating nephrologist is the best person to decide considering all these factors and the stage of the disease. There is no specific cut off for serum creatinine level above which dialysis is a must.

I think the medicines are on track; but again without seeing the patient I cannot confirm this finding and your treating doctor is the best judge.

Pain in legs can be hyperparathyroid, electrolyte imbalances of sodium potassium and calcium which can be taken care of. Pain due to any problem which may be unrelated to the kidney disease can be there which can be diagnosed by examination.
