Question: Best treatment for Gastritus,Hiatus Hernia and Barrets Disease.,Already on Nexium Tablets and large amounts of Gavascon,but suffering acute burning and pain.
Cannot see a Specialist for at least another 6 weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Nexium contains Esmoprazole.I prescribe latest tablet Ilaprazole 10mg along with Itopride to my patients with similar complaints for better results.I also add Sucralfate syrup when the symptoms are severe.
Gaviscon can be continued.
If pain killers are prescribed for broken shoulder,stop them.
You should avoid spicy food,carbonated drinks,caffeine products.
Eat frequent small feeds.
Stop smoking and alchohol if you are taking them.
Inspite of these measures,if the symptoms are not controlled,then surgery like Stomach fundoplication has to be planned.
Reduce stress and anxiety.
Practise Yoga and Meditation.
