What Is The Cause And Treatment For UTI?

Question: Hi! This is my second time making the query regarding the same issue (1st UTI in an 8 year old boy). My son was treated for a balanitis before doctor found there was a bacteria in the urine sample. However, the bacterial in urine has been fully treated by a course of antibiotic. Doctor now ordered a KBU ultrasound with reason being to ensure no abnormality.
Is it normal for a doctor to order an ultrasound for a first time UTI? His symptom is all gone and he is normal boy now but waiting for the ultrasound to be done making me extremely worried. The word of ultrasound giving me an idea there must be some underlying issue to be dealt with. Please help as I can't reassure myself that everything is going to be okay despite the boy himself projects no symptom. What is the ultrasound for and what possibly the result brings?

Brief Answer:
UTI PATIENTS TO BE SCANNED TO RULE OUT ANY HIDDEN INFECTIVE FOCUS
Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear,
Welcome to the HCM,
Not to worry. It is a routine procedure done in UTI cases.
Patients of UTI are supposed to be scanned routinely to rule out any developmental abnormality or infective focus which may be cause of Infection.
In a case of balanitis, it is quite possible that the infection might have enter in to the urethra causing infection of the Urinary tract.
Upper urinary tract infective focus or abnormality is not a common possibility in your case but still it is advisable to scan whole tract to rule out any subtle focus.
Hope the query is answered.
Please feel free for the further clarification.
Thanks
