What Is The Cause And Treatment For Balanoposthitis?

default
Posted on Thu, 10 Jul 2014
Question: There is a redness like rash, but doesn't itch or hurt, around the underneath of the head of my penis, There are also very small bumps, or pimple like (tiny) things on the head, on the outside edge. Doesn't get really red until after sex or masturbation then it mildly kind of burns, but doesn't itch. Hasn't responded to either lotrimin nor Neosporin...I haven't had sex with a woman in years and I do masturbate a lot..

Brief Answer:
Antibiotics, metronidazole and anti-fungal tablets

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
This is called : balanoposthitis and can be the first indication of likelihood of diabetes.
So the first thing to do is to get the blood sugar - fasting and post-lunch done.

Second most important thing in such a problem is to stop applying anything locally to the penis, the skin of penis is soft and different than the skin of the body at different area. No ointments have been designed so far for this area.

At the most the only allowable solution is that of Povidone iodine. Helpful in your condition and almost no side-effects.

You have to take a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole for 7 days and an anti-fungal tablet - singe dose in consultation with your Doctor ( these need prescription). Most the problems like you have are cured with this.

You have to clean the area with plain water 2 to 4 times a day. Keep it dry and well ventilated. No tight underwear or pants.

Once OK, you may please continue masturbation, no harm will be there- just wait for the problem to get cured.

If the prepucial skin covers the glans and this problem get recurrent in spite of the course of medicines > circumcision ( a small surgery to excise/ remove the excess skin) helps a lot.

I don't have a doctor and am, thanks to our government, uninsured. Is the Povidone iodine over the counter and are there any natural remedies I can use without paying to go to doctor? I don't have that kind of money.

Brief Answer:
Yes it is .

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

No problem.
Povidone Iodine over-the-counter product. Use liquid form only. Apply 2 to 4 times a day ( I understand, you must have a job making applications a bit difficult). It dries up fast.
Keep the penis clean with plain water 2 to 4 times. Keep the area dry. Use cotton underwear.
This may solve your problem within a few days.

Consider visiting a Doctor if the response is not complete.
I am so sorry that I can not give you a prescription- online prescriptions are not allowed , hence useless.

See if it is possible to get to a Doctor within your financial reach to get a prescription.
No Masturbation till you get a cure. You may see a peeling of the skin and then arrival of new skin, Let it get a strength.

Regards,
