What Is The Cause And Treatment For Eustachian Tube Dysfunction?
Eustachian tube dysfunction secondary to sinusitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having humming noise in ear.
Based on your clinical details, it appears to be Eustachian (tube connecting the middle ear and nose) tube dysfunction secondary to sinusitis.
As such, sinusitis (head-ache) can cause Eustachian tube dysfunction (ear blockage, ringing sound in ear). It's post nasal drip (sinus secretions can trickle down into throat), causes infection in throat where phlegm needs to be cleared by repeated hawking. It also descend down in to voice box and lungs and causes laryngitis, lung infection and reflux esophagitis.
I suggest the following measures, to overcome your ringing in ears and repeated clearing of throat.
1. Take anti allergic medication like tab. levocet+ d (cetrizine +phenylephrine) one at bed time.
2. stop clearing the throat (can cause local infection due to pressure changes in throat).
3. cap.amoxcillin 500 mg thrice daily (medical prescription needed).
4. steam inhalation twice daily.
5. start ppi inhibitors with prokinetics (pantoprazole + domepridone) pan-d twice daily before food (half an hour before).
6. Do valsalva exercises (watch youtube video) for ringing sensation in ears.
In case of persistence, needs to be evaluated with ENT surgeon and investigations to rule out other causes.
