What Is The Cause And Treatment For Hair Loss?

Question: I have been having hair loss. Right where my part in my hair is, but mostly in the back part of my head, where the part is. My hair has been getting very thin, but not necessarily brittle. I have been noticing that about every two or three days my hair is getting oily and I need to wash it more often, than usual. I have colored my hair in the past, and I have discontinued this for now. I Not especially large amounts but enough to cause me concern. I have hypothyroidism, and have been taking synthroid for this. I also have been taking hormone replacement therapy for vaginal dryness, and to help my sex drive. Should I discontinue the hormone treatment? Should I consult with my family doctor or go to a dermatologist?
Brief Answer:
Family doctor fisrt
Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern.
May I know what kind of hormone replacement are you taking for vaginal dryness ( Estrogen vaginal cream or tablets).
Hypothyroidism can cause hair fall . However if your TSH levels are good, then not to worry.
Stress and Vitamin / Iron deficiencies also can cause hair loss. It is worthwhile to get a CBC ( complete blood count) done.
Please do not discontinue the hormone replacement at this stage. It is better to meet the family doctor first who will of course have a broader outlook than Dermatologist. If your family doctor feels that hair loss is primarily due to a skin condition, they can refer you to a dermatologist.

I am taking progesterone 300 mg sublingual tablets under the tongue, nightly 1/4 of a section of a square, and under the skin treatments with the company New Leaf, under a doctor's care. I have blood tests one week prior before each quarterly implant.
Brief Answer:
TSH
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for the reply. Noted the HRT. This wouldn't cause hair loss.
Hope your recent TSH test for thyroid was normal
