What Is The Cause And Treatment For Recurring Genital HSV Infection?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Mar 2015
Question: I have recently been diagnosed with HSV2. Unsure when I got this. Never noticed any signs and now am paranoid. I only tingle on the buttocks accompanied with no pain. Today I noticed a red bump and 2 others not close to the first - only one that looks like a pimple. Looking at pics on the Internet what I have is not a cluster of small mucussy looking pimples. Doesn't hurt at all. I believe its a pimple as I exercise often and could have been induced by heat and rubbing. I have been on valtrex 1000 for past 3 weeks. Could the tingling be associated with a yeast infection or bv as I was told by my OBGYN I had both. Or am I going through an OB? Worried as I had protected sex yesterday and am scared I passed hsv2 onto him. He was fully aware I have this, but I am nervous as I was tingling just on my buttocks and my OBGYN stated tingling was not the sole determinant of this virus. I'm stressing. Help.

Brief Answer:
Recurrence of Genital HSV infection would not be visible obviously in women

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.

You had mentioned that you have tingling sensation over your buttock region, whereas you had not mentioned the exact site of the pimples like bumps. In women HSV 2 infection might not have been visible obvious owing to the anatomical situation.

Rarely vesicles or blistered can be presented in Genital Herpes as an isolated one or not in groups and painless. But these vesicles in Herpes would not likely present more than a day or two by which time it will become ulcerated.
If your tingling sensation got relieved by the Valtrex tablets, then it would most likely to be due to Genital Herpes infection.
Chances of HSV transmission in a protected sex is very much low.
It seems your physician is guiding you in proper direction.
Wish you a speedy recovery.
