Differences between allergic rhinitis and cold
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Allergic rhinitis is seasonal, usually when the allergen sare present in atmosphere e.g spring through fall whereas cold is more common in winters. Therefore, allergic rhinitis can last longer as long as there are alergens, as compared to common cold which usually lasts 7-10 days.
Sneezing is a common symptom in allergic rhinitis and not so common in cold.
Cold is contagious i.e there would be similarly affected close contacts e.g family members or friends whereas allergic rhinitis is not contagious.
Cold may be associated with fever whereas fever is not common in allergic rhinitis.
Individuals with allergic rhinitis may have a raised serum IgE level as compared to those with common cold.
