What Is The Dosage Of Taxim-O Drops For Loose Motion?
Not recommended
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns. I would not recommend you to start your baby on any antibiotics if the loose motions are not associated with any blood or mucous in stools. This is because most such diarrhea episodes in this age group are viral in origin and improve by just symptomatic treatment and good hydration.
I would recommend you to start him on:
- ORS to replace loss of fluids and electrolytes in poops. This has balanced composition of electrolytes which help in proper hydration.
- start a Zinc supplement such as ZnD or Zinconia (5 ml once daily for 14 days). Zinc is very useful for such episodes and help in early recovery and further immunity against similar episodes in next 2-3 months.
- Racadotril granules will be useful for easy control of diarrhea. Use it only if there is no mucous and blood in poops and the poops are too watery.
- give crocin or Tylenol for fever spikes and repeat after 6-8 hours if required.
- antibiotics such as taxim o can be used only if blood or mucous is present in poops. Ofloxacin-ornidazole will be more useful in that case.
The dose of Taxim o drops is very high. I would recommend just 1 ml twice daily if required.
Take care
