What Is The Dosage Of Regesterone To Post Pone Periods?
Question: Hi Doctor,
It's my wedding on the 11th of XXXXXXX My periods were due yesterday (8th of June). However, I still haven't got them. My cycle lasts for about 7 days. So I wish to take delay tablets. I have used Regesterone in the past and it has worked for me. So shall I just take 1 regesterone tablet a day starting immediately till the day of my marriage? In the past I have always just taken one tablet a day of Regesterone but I read online that some doctors prescribe 2 a day. I am asking this because I want to be sure that it will work!

Detailed Answer:
To be on the safer side take 10 mg twice a day as long as you wish to delay your periods.
Once you stop, you should have withdrawal bleeding within a week maximum, generally within 2 - 3 days.
However, you should start well in advance of your expected date, atleast 2 - 3 days earlier.
Start off right now with the tablets, as it might be too late, and then your period could start anytime.
Take care.

Doctor, just now something happened.
Since I was waiting for your response, I thought it's better I don't wait longer and take the pill. This happened just a while ago. I took a 5mg Regesterone pill and in less than 5 minutes (literally) my periods started.
Not full fledged yet but initial spotting (which is how it starts sometimes). I AM REALLY WORRIED NOW!!!! Will this tablet affect me now. What can I expect and what should I do?
I apologize for asking so many questions!

First dont apologize, I am here to clear your doubts, its always a pleasure !
I already told you it is too late to start the Regestrone, it should be started well in advance of expected periods, I wonder why you waited till so late.
If your periods have started, I am sorry, nothing can be done.
Continue taking the medication as advised, it might slow down the flow or reduce the days to less than 7.
Take care.

I would do that. Just one apprehension, will this have any major side-effects? I haven't ever had such high dosage (10mg +10mg) of Regestrone. I have used it quite a few times in the past but only 5 mg dosage (but yes my body weight has increased over last two years). Just worried if it's totally safe to take a total 20 mg a day. Will it have any serious side effects? Don't want major issues immediately after marriage.
