What Is The Life Expectancy Of A Heart Patient With Fluid Filled Lungs?
Question: Hi my mom had a massive heart attack on 4/8/14. We were able to get her to a hospital in time for her to be stabilized. She now is on all types of meds and keeps retaining water in her lungs. She was admitted again about 5 days ago with fluid in her lungs. The Dr says she only has 20% of her heart working. Does that get any better and Is she a candidate for heart surgery? What is her life expectancy?
Brief Answer:
I need further details.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking.
To give a better opinion I would like to know her coronary angiography. Probably she is not going to get better.
Does she has chest pain now ? If yes, this is a good sign she may benefit from bypass surgery. Her life expectancy is short, from one to three years. And the quality of life is even worse.
Best regards,
Dr. Ermal
