What Is The Normal AST And ALT Range For A 17 Year Old?

Question: What is a normal AST and ALT range for a 17 year old male on his last month of Accutane?
Brief Answer:
3-5 times more than normal limits are abnormal
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear. Thanks for posting on HCM.
Normal ALT - 7 to 40U/l.
AST - 8 to 48U/l.
I were to measure these enzymes during therapy and would recommend to stop if they are significantly elevated(more than 3-5 times the normal limits depending on the reference values of the lab) and more importantly if you have symptoms of flu.
Further these elevations cannot be purely attributed to accutane therapy in the background of alcoholic liver disease(ALD).
Hope this answers your query.
