Question: Hi My Kid is 2.5 years old. She started getting allergy cold, when she was 10 months old and it has not subsided till today. doctors keep telling, its allergy cold and she was given initially all syrups and now, she is on Budecord 0.5 nebulization(2 times) for past 20 days. Her cold has come back and i am thinking of starting Asthalin nebulization for her for the next days to subside this cold. She was also on Montek LC Kid for the past 1 year and we were asked to be stopped my ped, as she did not show any improvement. She gets into Weeze, when her cold aggravates and keeps vomiting due to chest congestion. What else could be the reason and what can be done more to improve her health?

Brief Answer: Will tell you some lifestyles changes Detailed Answer: Hi Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic. You have already tried the allopathic medicines for allergy and asthma. In allopathy, nothing more can be done except giving her oral corticosteroids that may have some systemic side effects. Oral steroids are tried when there are frequent recurrences of increasing severity and dose reduction is attempted after 1 - 2 weeks of steroids. Budecort is a steroidal inhaler too. Since it is given by inhalation it does not produce systemic side-effects. The systemic side effects are fatty appearance, rounded face, obesity, fragile skin, muscular weakness, susceptibility to infection, growth retardation, etc. Apart from this you can try the following: - Avoid the trigger - Give her pure drinking water from RO system. Will take care of recurrent infections and will help her a lot. Avoid mineral water as some kids may be allergic to minerals in the water. - Avoid situations in which recurrent infection can occur like going to congested daycares, schools, etc - Try simple ayurvedic medicines like sualin tablets, or cough and cold syrup by XXXXXXX XXXXXXX ayurveda. Try these in moderation only. - Take her to yoga and breathing technique classes when she is older than 7 years. This will help develop her lung capacity. - Take some tests to confirm allergy or asthma and to rule out infection. The tests would include complete blood count and serum immunoglobulin levels. Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further. Dr Vaishalee
