Further details needed.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
The details I would like to know are
- Does she have fever too along with cough?
- Does this sort of cough happen with every season change?
- Did she need any medications like Levolin/ Asthalin/ Bricanyl/ Deriphylline or Nebulization?
- Since which age she has been having this sort of cough?
- How long have you been in delhi? Is this the first winter for her in Delhi?
- Is there any family history of
Asthma or Allergy?
- Did she have
Eczema of skin in her childhood?
Usually cough followed by
vomiting indicates that she has wheeze.
Cough that is usually with out fever, that gets aggravated with seasonal change, seen more during winters is most likely due to wheeze- Allergic
Bronchitis.
What she needs is
- During the episode:
Bronchodilator (Medications like the one I have mentioned above) and an antiallergic like
Xyzal.
- To prevent such attacks: Medications like Monteleukast.
If very frequent she might need
steroid inhalers too.
Common triggers like dust, smoke (Cigarette/ Vehicle), Strong smells from perfumes/ agarbathis etc, pet animals inside the house, house molds, Cold air, food (Nuts/ Preservatives/ wheat) should be avoided.
Usually rice does not act as a trigger.
For the throat issue- do not use Blowers during winters. It might dry up the throat and aggravate the cough. You may use Oil Heaters.
You may give her plenty of warm liquids and some lozenges like honeytuss.
For the skin dryness- apply moisturizers liberally. Vaseline/ Atogla/ Oilatum/ Restoraderm all are good moisturizers. Use good moisturizing soaps (dove) and not drying ones.
Hope I have answered your query.
Please do get back if you need further assistance.
Best wishes.
