What Is The Window Period For HIV And HSV?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jun 2016
Question: This was my previous question which was answered:I recently had sex and oral sex for the first time without protection (a week ago). I admit I felt very guilty and anxious and nervous about right after. The woman in question is on birth control but has had multiple partners.

That following morning I got home, I put hydrogen peroxide on my penis (iodine two days later. I had severe diarrhea and dehydration hit me the day after and the next morning. I am thinking more due to my anxiety. I've had night sweats, loss of appetite, abdominal pain.

On Monday, The tip of my penis, urethra, burn. My testicles tender. My throat has been scratchy and tip of tongue like it was burned. I went to a health department for testing and due to the symptoms I got a shot for Gonorhea and Zithromycin (1000 mg) for chlamydia. Today I got a test for HSV.

I am sure I have something. My questions are:

How soon do most symptoms start with STDs?

Assuming I got a viral STD like HIV or Hep, how soon can I take those tests or know if I am out of the clear?
Thank you.

New Question and details:

I am doing better in regards to original symptoms. I am getting retested for HIV, Hepititis, HSV and Syphilis in XXXXXXX 3 months after possible exposure.

I have not had any large raised sores or small blisters to indicate Syphilis or Herpes. I have had a canker sore start a few days ago behind my lower lip. It is white, not raised or hard. started a couple days ago. And it is not painless. Have had a small painless white bump start and be gone within 24 hours. one on my tongue and one on my gums.

Anything I should be concerned about?

Brief Answer:
no

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.

Well, tests for HIV en hepatitis are reliable 4 weeks after exposure so you can do it earlier than 3 months. I think this is most likely to be bacterial STD and these symptoms may occur from 5 days up to 3-4 weeks after exposure. HIV can be easily ruled out by testing. Also, you may have simple uroinfection or prostatitis which is not STD. In every case this should be better on antibiotic therapy.
Wish you good health. Feel free to ask. Regards
