What Prevents A Catheter From Emptying The Bladder Completely?
I will try to make it short
Been using catheter 4 x day to empty bladder
about 6-7 am then around noon then 5-6 pm then 10-11 pm
until 7/31/17 when got UTI took notrofurantoin 100mg 2x day 7 days UTI gone BUT
now urinating 10-12 x aday using catheter 6 x a day also, got dry mouth, leftside pain, no sweat, finally had renal u/s and renal blood panel done couple days ago, results by tues but tech told me that even after using catheter some urine in bladder AND left kidney I got my function up from 29% to 50% back in july I am certain the % is way down Urologist and Nephrologist only want to run tests but not for infection.
Help!!! What would cause catheter to NOT fully empty bladder. Oh, spinal stenosis so bad L4-L5 must have surgery rightaway
Urologist and Nephrologist haven't even seen me yet just ordered tests.
They are going to cause my kidneys in stage 5 failure if you can't help me.
Please treat me like I am your closest friend AND only living relative, please, I do NOT have much time left.
Needs immediate decompression of stenosis via surgery
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question andi correlated your history in previous asked questions. From that, i inferred that you suffer from spinal stenosis already. Now from there this inability to pass urine and taking help of a catheter indicates atonic / hypertonic bladder and term called neurogenic bladder and is a side effect of spinal stenosis. One other suspicion would be of prostate enlargement as you mentioned reports say 50 % post void residual volume. Increased frequency could be due to infections of urinary tract and nitrofurantoin might have cleared the organism but inflammation may still be there and may take a while to resolve and delay due to recurrent catheterization .
Solution is simple, treat the cause. Cause is not bladder , its spine. Consult a spine surgeon, let them operate on your stenosis as soon as possible as to me its an almost surgical emergency now.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
