What Tests Should Be Done For Adrenal Insufficiency?
tests for XXXXXXX
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for contacting HCM. For most patients, 8 Am serum cortisol level and plasma ACTH levels are tested along with a high dose ACTH stimulation test. For new or recent onset XXXXXXX a low dose ACTH stimulation test can also be done. Using these tests if the adrenal insufficiency is confirmed, further evaluation of mineralocorticoid activity ie Plasma renin activity and aldosterone testing should be followed.
Once addisons workup is done , abdominal CT should be performed to look up for the enlarged adrenals, infectious causes, hemorrhage, metastasis, or calcification from TB which helps in defining etiology.
For determining etiology , lets say its autoimmune an analysis of other autoimmune diseases like vitiligo . Serum phosphate, calcium, glucose and thyrotropin may be measured for other autoimmune disorders.
Hope it helps.
